The end of the year is right around the corner, and here's one of your last opportunities to get in that professionalism CLE you need and have a little fun at the same time.

Join us for our free Last Chance Professionalism CLE: Rule 6.1, CLE Credit for Pro Bono Representation on December 8 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at Jones Walker, 52nd Floor, 1-hour Professionalism CLE credit.

In 2015, the Louisiana Supreme Court approved CLE credit for pro bono representation. This CLE will cover this rule change and the reasoning behind it. Our excellent presenters will also discuss what qualifies as pro bono representation and how to apply for this accreditation.   

Martin Stern and Jeff Richardson of Adams and Reese will present on how this new rule went into effect through the efforts and advocacy of Louisiana Appleseed volunteers. 

Sam Ford from Varadi, Hair & Checki, along with Michael Breeden of the Breeden Law Firm, will discuss the emerging issue of debt buyer’s aggressive tactics in Louisiana courts and how you can assist by volunteering on such case matters. 

The Pro Bono Project’s new Managing Attorney for Volunteer Engagement, Kathleen Legendre, will present on what cases are currently available for interested pro bono volunteers to take on, how to qualify your pro bono hours for CLE credit, and the mentoring and technical subject matter expertise thatThe Pro Bono Project provides to all its attorney volunteers.

Please join us at our Volunteer Recognition Awards Event on December 8th from 5 to 6:30 pm at Jones Walker, located at 201 St. Charles Avenue on the 52nd Floor in New Orleans.

The Honorable Jay Zainey, Judge, U. S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana and The Project's Board Chair Norm Rubenstein will present the awards and celebrate these individuals for their generous, ongoing support. All are invited to stay for the reception, which follows the awards presentation.

Onsite registration/check-in begins at 3:30 pm; CLE begins at 4:00 pm; followed by the 2016 Volunteer Recognition Awards and Reception beginning at approximately 5:00 pm.
