Sold to the highest bidder with lots of fun and entertainment, thanks to auctioneer John Calhoun, who has come on board to work with Justice For All Ball Auction and Raffle Committee Chairs, Mark Kaplinsky and Lacey Rochester, respectively. John will be on the floor the night of September 16th at the Justice For All Ball, whipping up the crowd to bid on the crème de la crème of auction prizes, which committee members have gathered over the last several months.
John was spied by one of the committee members at a recent black-tie gala working his fun and magic on the audience. Thinking he could add something special to our gala, John was invited to meet with members of the Justice For All Ball Committee.
He immediately began sharing tips on the kinds of items that are best for a live auction versus those that do better in a silent auction. Looking over the list of what’s been gathered so far, he seemed quite pleased with the variety and depth of potential live auction items that we have to offer to gala attendees.
“The auction has always been a smaller part of the Justice For All Ball but over the last few years, we’ve had some interesting items that have helped to show us that it could be a bigger part of the overall event. By adding John to the mix, we hope to see it grow as a part of the overall ‘fun factor’ of the evening,” said Ball Committee Chair Jan Hayden of Baker Donelson.
In addition to the items that will be part of the live auction, John will also showcase one of The Project’s civil legal programs and will offer party-goers the opportunity to help fund the program auction-style! It’s an exciting opportunity to ‘fund a critical need’ right on the spot.
This year’s live auction will be held early in the evening’s activities, between 8:30 and 9:00 pm, while the silent auction will stretch across several hours. We’ll also be selling raffle tickets throughout the evening, bringing those boards to a close in the 10:00 pm hour.
We’ll have more to tell you as JFAB 2016 gets closer. In the meantime, you can buy tickets, sponsorships or donate prizes for the auction or raffle by checking out the JFAB 2016 page on the website or calling the JFAB Hotline at 504.581.3480
