Meet This Year's Justice For All Ball Emcee - Sula Kim

We are thrilled to have WDSU's own Sula Kim as this year's Justice For All Ball Emcee. Sula is an Emmy award winning TV anchor/reporter in New Orleans. She anchors the 4, 6 & 10pm news weekdays. Most recently, Sula and her team were honored with the 'Best newscast' award by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters for their coverage of the Seacor Power lift boat accident. The team has also been recognized for their wall-to-wall of Hurricane Ida in 2021 and the Arabi tornado in March of 2022.

One of her biggest honors was to be the commencement speaker for the class of 2022 at the University of Holy Cross. She is also the resident emcee for the annual Zurich Classic Executive Women's Day, and many other charitable events and causes such as the American Heart Association, St. Michael Special School, Women of Hope Unite, Louisiana Humane Society and the Asian Pacific American Society. She also has numerous recognition and awards from various charities honoring her dedication and passion for non-profit causes.

In 2014, Kim covered the Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia.  Kim was one of three anchors representing all of Hearst Television, providing reports for dozens of TV stations across the country.

In 2013, Kim hosted NBC’s Education Nation with NBC anchor Hoda Kotb.  She helped moderate several panel discussions and  town hall meetings with top educators and state legislators about the state of education in America.

Sula's report on a local SSI recipient with spina bifida galvanized Senator Bill Cassidy to introduce the "Work Without Worry Act" in 2021, and the sister legislation “Savings Penalty Elimination Act” was introduced by Senator Cassidy in September of 2023.  One of her other in depth reports in 2014 helped influence Senate Bill 66 which passed in the legislative session. The bill requires home inspectors in Louisiana to report mold to their clients.

Sula's career journey across the country includes time at KING TV (NBC) in Seattle and WVEC -TV (ABC) in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, VA.

In Hampton Roads, she covered many military stories like the 22 local Navy Seals killed when their Chinook Helicopter was shot down by enemy fire in Afghanistan, and the Navy Jet Crash in Virginia Beach.

She also spent time as reporter at WBAY-TV (ABC) in Green Bay Wisconsin, where she was morning reporter. She was also host of a monthly live teen talk show on Wisconsin Public Television called Teen Connection.
