After more than 15 years on Baronne Street, The Pro Bono Project is opening the door on May 1st to a new office space in The New Orleans Exchange Centre, formerly the Chevron building. We are so excited about this move and the possibilities that it opens up for The Project, its volunteers, clients, visitors, and collaborative partners.

Our new office is at 935 Gravier, Suite 1340, New Orleans, LA 70112; our phone number will remain the same. We’ll be in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD) on the corner of O’Keefe and Gravier Streets - easily accessible to many of our partner law firms, and Orleans Civil District Court on Loyola Avenue. Adjacent parking is available for staff, clients, volunteers, and visitors, and we are within walking distance to the transportation hub at Canal and Loyola.

"Board Chair, Sherry Dolan and I looked at office spaces throughout the downtown area since last Fall. After much deliberation, we felt that the New Orleans Exchange offered the best location, security, amenities, and room for growth that The Project requires. This location brings us closer to our collaborative partners throughout the downtown area and the new environment will create a better experience for clients, volunteers, staff and other visitors. Our clients and volunteers will find the new building conveniently located and comfortable,” said Executive Director, CC Kahr. The building also houses many law firms and other not-for-profit organizations with whom The Project often works. (Representative images courtesy of The New Orleans Exchange Center website.)

The new space features a large lobby area, with a security door between reception and offices, and an adjacent 10-person conference room. These improvements will provide a private and more secure environment for staff, volunteers and visitors. A large corner office will serve as a break out room for volunteers, visiting law students, and other guests. The suite is large enough to accommodate staff growth.

"It's a lot of space to fill up, and we're looking for some gently used office furniture. We've compiled a short list of what's needed, which you can download, view below and find it on our Facebook page," explains CC.

View and download the list here. If anyone has something to donate, please email CC Kahr with the details.

The Project is scheduled to move on Saturday, April 28th and expects to have the office back up and running by Tuesday, May 1st.

“May 1st is an important day for The Pro Bono Project and the city of New Orleans. It marks the beginning of a new era for The Project and is the day that The Pro Bono Project will participate in GiveNOLA Day. We  would love to have our supporters spread the word to their colleagues and networks on donating - see our GND 2018 article. Each dollar allows us to fulfill our mission to provide free civil legal aid to underserved members of our community,” says CC.

Anyone interested in lending a hand either on the day of the move or during the week prior, please email CC Kahr for additional information.

Our thanks to Sherry Dolan, Phil Franco, John Strausser, Kevin Colomb, Marie Moore, and members of the Board who worked with us over the past months to help secure a new home for The Project.
