Working in the legal community for over a decade, I was reminded every fall of how much fun everyone had at the Justice For All Ball. Lawyers – young and old – would regale me with tales of great food and drink, amazing auction prizes, and dancing the night away.
It was, as one lawyer told me, the legal community’s “event of the year.” Knowing what it takes to organize a gala of this magnitude, I was in awe of the work of the committee and staff of The Pro Bono Project and, quite frankly, a little relieved that it wasn’t my event to plan!
Fast forward to 2018. I’m now Executive Director of The Pro Bono Project and overseeing “the event of the year.”
My relief today comes from planning an event with so many creative and dedicated volunteers from the legal, business, and entertainment worlds. I’m so appreciative of the way in which our volunteers, business leaders, and staff give so much of their personal and professional resources.
Their generosity is inspiring and contributes to our ability to fulfill our mission to provide free civil legal aid to underserved members of our community. It is that very community that benefits from the JFAB and that encourages us to host an event that is both fun and purposeful.
